title: Into The Storm (see the full-size close-up below) I stood on shore with my 135mm telephoto lens and camera tripod mounted while I took repeated shots of the maroon colored sail and its traditional hull design sailing toward an incoming storm. Suddenly, at my shoulder a woman asked if I was photographing the boat. When I said I was, she said she was the wife of the vessels skipper and was concerned about them sailing into the storm. Everyone weathered it just fine. I digitalized the 35mm transparency and found that using a variety of techniques I achieved this abstract version in which the swirling waters turn to colorful jewels and the main colorful characters are caught in the midst of their emotional poses. |
