In this study of rampant horses in the Paris fountain I saw the action in black and white, the details of bronze and flying water outlined in fine black ink. Now, the viewer is no longer dazzled by sparkling dots of moving color but can focus sharply on the stallions and their violent movements frozen in time by the camera lens. This large full-size rendering is stunning against the stark white walls of a modern apartment, perhaps an artist’s studio somewhere along the myriad backstreets of Paris’ Left Bank.
