Hobi Alter hired me to photograph one of his Hobi Cat races in Florida one year. He wanted me to use a telephoto lens that compresses the background and foreground. I shot many rolls during that week and this shot was from atop a channel marker. Compression was not what I was after here. I wanted to show several of the boats against the glittering gold sunset sea.

Later, after scanning to my computer, I did away with the middle tones and went for the silhouettes against the glittering gold and saturated red that abstracts the action. This 9.8x14-inch enlargement is a real stunner!
