I photographed this vintage sailing ship at its wharf in San Francisco, California. The 35mm color transparency was purposely exposed to largely record the lines, masts and yardarms in silhouette.

Later I sandwiched the transparency with a full moon shot made through a 400-mm lens. Its copied image was then scanned at high resolution and entered into my computer. Interestingly, one of the two slides had a faint rosy hue left over from that day’s sunset. It gives the picture a pleasant cast that I picked up in the matt I used for my framed picture.
