What is the closing date for submissions?
The closing date for submissions
has not yet been released. The estimated time at this point is now
approximately 4-6 weeks (Early May 2009) as page count of accepted
submissions is over 2/3 filled.
It is on a first come, first served
basis to review and accept submissions. At the current rate of submissions
the time estimate may be less than expected, and in obtaining the
page count for production.
As soon as the page count is reaching
close to limit, then a closing date will be specified ... an exact
date has not been appointed yet, as to not eliminate opportunity if
page count space is still feasible. Once page count is reached …
there are no exceptions to acceptance, all submissions beyond that
date will be executed on our system on their arrival.
When is the book going
into production?
Once page count of accepted submissions
has been reached, then the volume will begin production, time of production
may have some length (approx one month) as the quality and presentation
need to be of the highest standard of production for such an art quality
book, enabling its global market recognition to the highest league
of professionalism.
Does the artist receive
a percentage of the sales?
The artist does not receive a
percentage of sales.
As it will comprise of a many
number of artists, it is a near impossible task to send a percentage
of each sale to each individual involved. Also due to the vary of
numbers of accepted pieces published from each artist... I.e. One
artist may have only one submission/acceptance versus another that
may have 3 or 4 or 6 pieces accepted. Again it is near an impossible
task to calculate percentages on this basis for fairness of all the
artists.
Can an artist make
a profit off the book, aside from the platform to advertise?
YES.
All artists published, and ONLY
the artists will be able to buy the book @ 20% discount, if the artist
then wish's to retail it at full retail price, it is their prerogative
to do so, and retain the profit of those sales.
Do I need to create
new works for the publication of this book?
No.
The artist may submit ANY age
of work, it is a platform to display ones capabilities world wide,
in a ‘collective art volume’. The artist, if they wish,
may give the year/time of the piece(s) in the bio segment provided
for them to do so of any information of themselves or work.
Are all submissions
accepted?
No.
This is also why it is FREE to
submit, and each Accepted piece is only $10US each.
It is a platform created to be
financially tangible and viable for artists to be able to market their
work without being subjected to the limitations of only a gallery
space, this will be for global exposure. A platform to give EVERY
ARTIST the opportunity for their dream to be realized.
There is a professional
standard required, especially for its marketability, but, it is an
opportunity for all artists.
What is the advantage
of being published, as opposed to a web site or gallery?
Unlike an art gallery that is
limited to one place of viewing … A book journeys, changes hands,
can be given, can be sent, can be kept on many, many book shelves
all around the globe at the same time, shared with many people, nor
does it have a limited time frame for display ... It lives on. Even
more so than Internet art sites, it is felt in people’s hands,
it forever exits and becomes exponentially realized, acknowledged,
and shared with no boundries.
How will I know when
the book is released?
It will be notified on the
site, so please refer back to the site for updates of information.
How long before artists
receive notification of acceptance or nonacceptance once submitted?
2-5 days.
What is the purpose
for the acceptance fee ... What does it go towards?
There is a small cost involved ... It is $10 per piece accepted (it
is free to submit) ... The acceptance fee goes towards the costs of
the publication for everyone to advertise (a small fee to purchase
advertising space) To produce and publish such a book is very expensive
... full color, hard cover and with high professional presentation
and integrity for its global marketability.
Each submission is only $10 each, as there is no 'one' author, it
is a publication of many Artists that create the book, with many artists
participating it allows the fee to be small.
Collectively the cost of submissions go to the cost involved of production,
publication and all the time that is required for such a large project.
Also on the 'hidden' work behind the scenes I.e such as taking the
time to send artists email, correspond with artists, and any questions
they may have, filing and organizing their work, submission form/acceptance
form reply for each artist, aside from the large amount of work that
goes into making such a publication, and the production costs, time,
such as the time it takes for placement of each piece - each page,
and the marketing once the book is released.
In short... The $10 covers the time and cost needed for each piece,
and the organization/filing of each piece and correspondance with
artist and the cost of publication and production ... collectively.
HOW WILL MY WORK BE
PLACED/DISPLAYED?
In most cases it is 1 piece per page. A smaller image of a piece loses
it's sincerity and 'effect' and does not give the work justice.
On occasion there maybe two pieces to a page, only if it becomes necessary
for page layout, we will endeavor to avoid this where ever possible.
For its global marketability, the art needs to be presented in the
most authentic and professional integrity with the best representation
of each piece and artist, this we feel is full page. Akin to framing
a piece, it can enhance it or take away from the piece ... This principal
also applies to page layout, and taken into careful consideration
in the same respect with publication.
NO artists will be 'merged' (share a page with another) . This is
again, giving the best possible platform to each artist, and their
own recognition. It is to advertise their capabilities/skills/work...
This would be lost if they were together on pages. The viewer needs
to clearly know which is each artist. We feel very strong about this.
WHERE WILL MY NAME AND BIO APPEAR IN THE BOOK?
On each artists page(s) will be the Artists name 'artfully' placed
(although not obstructing, nor overlapping their work) so the purchaser/viewer
will clearly find reference to the artists name and work. The 'Bio'
information given by the artist in the submission form will be in
the index in the back of the book, with easy reference by page number
and name.
DO I NEED TO BE A PROFESSIONAL ARTIST TO BE ACCEPTED?
NO. Although there is a high standard required.
Submissions are evaluated on skill, not necessarily 'schooling'. A
few questions we ask when evaluating a submission for acceptance ...
Does this affect me? Is the skill level and creativity above the ordinary-a
high standard? Will it be marketable? Will this work benefit the 'whole'?
The 'whole' meaning; Each artist affects the other by association
(being published in the same book) ... So this is something we take
into great consideration, the reason of the standard required as to
why we do not accept all works.
